Dental Fillings

When a tooth has a small cavity, our skilled dentists will remove the decay from the affected area and replace it with a tooth-colored composite restoration. We use only materials that are compatible with natural tooth structures. There is no need to worry about mercury from amalgam or metal fillings; we only place tooth-colored fillings here!

A typical dental filling begins with numbing the tooth. We use a topical anesthetic for your comfort before administering "the good stuff," the local anesthetic. Next, once you are comfortably numb, we will use a drill to remove the affected portion of the tooth. Once all decay is removed, we thoroughly clean and dry the tooth. The filling material is deposited into your tooth and skillfully shaped before we cure it with a blue UV cure light. Once we shine the light, the material is completely set, and you can go back to eating and drinking right away! But be sure to be careful until the numbness wears off, or you might hurt yourself!

Dental Crowns

When a tooth has a larger cavity or structural concerns, such as cracks or a root canal, a dental crown is needed instead of a filling. Dental crowns are considered full-coverage restorations because they fully cover a tooth's outsides, allowing for superior protection of the tooth. Dental crowns can also be used for cosmetic purposes, changing the shape or color of the teeth.

  • All Porcelain
  • Metal Porcelain
  • Zirconia
  • BruxZir®

We also offer high noble metal gold crowns when requested.

Root Canal Therapy

Root canal therapy is the process of cleaning out the nerve and blood supply from the tooth's center and purifying and sealing it from additional bacteria. Root canal treatment may be needed for a tooth with an infection at the tip of the root, often caused by a large cavity that reaches the center of the tooth where the nerve lives or if a large piece of tooth breaks off due to an accident.

Signs that a tooth needs a root canal include pain with hot or cold that lingers for several minutes or if the tooth pain wakes you from sleep. After a root canal, patients typically need to get a permanent crown on the tooth to protect it from breaking.

Dental Bonding

Dr. Teiman and her staff use the powers of dental bonding to beautify and fortify missing parts of the teeth. Similar to our white fillings, we use only expertly shade-matched, tooth-colored materials to seamlessly cover chips or gaps in the teeth.

Options For Missing Teeth

Dental Bridges

One common way to replace a missing tooth (or several, depending on the area of the mouth) is to place a fixed bridge. As the name suggests, a bridge is all one piece that connects the teeth on either side of an edentulous space with a fused "bridge" called a pontic. Bridges look and feel like regular teeth and are glued in the mouth permanently, so you don't have to worry about taking them out. A bridge is a great option when the teeth on either side of the space require restoration because preparing them for a bridge is essentially like preparing these teeth for dental crowns–if they don't have any problems, it is a shame to drill on perfectly healthy teeth. Another consideration with bridges is that you won't be able to pass floss through the fake tooth; there are many products on the market to make cleaning underneath easier, such as a floss threader, super floss, or even a Waterpik.

At Desert Sage Family Dental we offer both traditional bridges as well as implant bridges.

Dental Implants

A dental implant consists of 3 pieces, the implant (screw), abutment (connector), and crown. At Desert Sage Family Dental, we will place the abutment and crown after your surgeon has cleared the implant for restoration. The great thing about dental implants is that they do not cause any harm to adjacent teeth, and you can floss them normally!

We offer the following dental implant solutions:

  • Single Dental Implants
  • Implant-Retained Overdentures (similar to All-on-4®)
  • Overdentures

Removable Dentures

Whether you need all of your teeth replaced, or just a few, dentures and partial dentures are a cost-effective, aesthetically pleasing solution. To fill the gaps left by missing teeth, we will work with the best local labs to create custom dentures that fit your smile.
